Welcome to First Baptist of Sunrise
The First Baptist Church of Sunrise is a member of the Southern Baptist, and came into being on June 21 st, 1961. On this date, the church was officially established as a mission under the sponsorship of the Southwest Baptist Church. The name adopted then, was Lauderhill Baptist Church.
Brief History
The Church with 49 Members started in Lauderhill City Hall, and on January 31 st, 1962 acquired the property on which the church is now located. On February 28 th, that same year, Lauderhill Baptist voted to change its' name to Northwest Baptist Church.
On March 17th, 1963 the cornerstone of her first building was laid and though small, the building was completed by the end of June of that same year.
The name of the Church was later changed to First Baptist Church of Sunrise Gulf village, to reflect the surrounding community. In 1996, however, the "Gulf village" was dropped leaving its name as "The First Baptist Church of Sunrise."

The church by reason of its suburban characterization continues to reflect the multicultural diversity of the community, in accordance to her mandate.
