Wags 'N' Paws, Inc. offers several services to Knoxville, TN, and surrounding areas including the following:
Pet Sitting – Offered seven days a week year-round. In-home pet sitting consists of 30-minute visits where we provide clean water, food, medication (if needed), potty breaks, walk dogs, clean litter boxes and play. This service is available for all domestic dogs and cats as well as farm animals, birds, reptiles and other exotics.
Personal Dog Training – Offered Tuesday through Friday, day and evening times available. In-home training from Tina Thornhill, Certified Pet Dog Trainer through the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. This service consists of an hour long visit where we assess behavioral problems and offer solutions. Teaching is available for puppy / adult dog obedience, house training consultation, addressing mild aggression or leadership issues, and improving child / dog relationships. We also do consultation to introduce a new dog or puppy into the home as well as introduce a new baby to the dog.
Local Distributor for Benny Bully's Liver – A freeze-dried beef liver product that is excellent to use as a high value reinforcer for training.
For our training services, we ask that you review the below responsibilities prior to your first session. Please contact us with any questions!
Responsibilities of Client
- Provide for a safe and calm learning environment
- Act enthusiastically and have fun
- Insist that the relationship between you and your dog(s) come first
- Have the following items on hand for the first session:
- Most favorite treats (1-2 different types)
- Most favorite toys (1-2 toys)
- Leash (if not a fenced-in area, regular lead preferred)
- Inform trainer of any aggression or biting that has occurred to ensure safety
- Practice assigned homework consistently
Responsibilities of Trainer
- Provide basic obedience training literature, if requested
- Provide one clicker, if needed. Additional can be purchased for $3.00 each
- Basic obedience behaviors offered:
- Come
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Good leash walking manners
- Behavior problems include mild aggression, reactivity, pulling on leash, jumping up, chewing, inappropriate mouthing, inattention, barking, etc. These can be very specific behavior modifications and may need additional sessions to address
- Provide certificate of completion upon your request
