APA Company

APA COMPANY is a term referring to a select group of dancers at any given studio that perform and compete under that studio’s name. These dancers are usually chosen through an audition or invitation process based on talent, attitude and commitment to dance. Typically speaking, these kids consider dance to be the focus of their extra-curricular activities, and COMPANY offers them the additional opportunities needed to expand their talents and refine their skills. In addition to more extensive practices and rehearsal times, COMPANY dancers participate in local community performances, dance conventions, as well as, regional and national competitions.

Becoming a member of a “Dance Company” can be compared to playing “Select Soccer,” joining a “Gymnastics Team,” or swimming “Year-round.” Like any team sport, COMPANY offers regular physical activity, a venue for character building, a sense of belonging and the opportunity to be competitive in a positive and healthy environment. Dancing at a higher level helps teach the value of dedication, perseverance and a strong work ethic. COMPANY members make friends for life, and have a safe-haven from the social pressures at school. Members enjoy several bonding opportunities throughout the year. The younger dancers are paired up with a special “buddy”, to support them during rehearsals and events throughout the year.

Above all, COMPANY members are exposed to the best dance training, choreography and instructors APA can offer. They are offered more studio time to refine their dance skills and more stage opportunities to refine their performance skills. In addition, COMPANY requires a certain level of talent, and a higher level of commitment from both the dancer and his or her entire family.

If you are interested in becoming a COMPANY dancer, have been dancing for at least one year, have a passion for dance and have a family willing to make the commitment, then there is most likely a place for you in the APA COMPANY.
