Before you even put your place on the market, take this time to minimize clutter! This will also make your packing easier when its time to move to your new place. Make several trips to Goodwill - a good rule of thumb is to throw out anything you haven't used in a year. Once you clean out your closets, further reduce the clutter around the house by putting away the things that are precious to you - these will only distract the prospective buyer.

Buyers need to see the 'bones' of the property and not be distracted by clutter or your collections or photographs. Clear the kitchen countertops, remove decorative magnets and the kid's drawings off the refrigerator. Often times furniture needs to be removed to make your home feel more open and airy feeling.

Other than cleaning up the clutter and possibly painting the walls a neutral color, the best way to fix up a home for a sale is a professional cleaning! With a little curb appeal your house will be sold in no time!
