Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is an infection of the gums and bone that surround the teeth. Many people who have periodontal disease aren't even aware of it. It is rarely painful. The main cause of periodontal disease is the accumulation of plaque. You must remove plaque each day or it builds up and mineralizes and forms tartar or calculus. It takes professional help to remove tartar. There is no way that it can be removed at home - a toothbrush or floss will not remove it. We take great pride in ensuring that all of our patients are aware of their periodontal condition and will make every effort to assist you with your oral hygiene care.
Did you know that 85% of Americans have some form of Periodontal Disease? You may be surprised to learn that gum disease has been linked to heart illness, strokes and even premature births. Gum disease is the main reason adults lose their teeth, or suffer inflamed, receding or bleeding gums and bad breath. Gum diseases can be easily prevented with proper home care and professional care. When caught early, treatment is simple and highly effective.
