Tips for Interviewing
- Be as prepared as possible. Do a little research so you will know what the position you are applying for, typically, asks for.
- Dress appropriately. Make sure your outfit is neat and clean. Jeans and t-shirts are typically not appropriate.
- Always maintain eye contact with your interviewer. It shows confidence.
- Stay positive! If you think you are qualified to get the job this attitude will shine through. No one wants to deal with a person with a defeatist attitude.
- Focus on your best qualities. Employers want to hire someone who can benefit them in some way. Be sure to reinforce the best parts of your personality.
- Be a good listener. Try not to interrupt the interviewer and always let them finish their thought before speaking. Ask for clarification if you need to. The more information you get from them the better you can answer the question.
- Think of typical responses, write them out and practice them out loud.
