Hand therapy specializes in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries and diseases. Hand therapy includes wound and scar management, edema and pain control, graded exercises for improving motion and strength, splinting to enhance motion or protect joints, adaptive techniques for daily living and work stimulation.

Hand therapy patients are often referred for custom splint with the goals of protecting, positioning or mobilizing fingers, wrists or elbows.
