Hand Therapy
What is hand therapy?
Hand therapy specializes in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries and diseases. Hand therapy includes wound and scar management, edema and pain control, graded exercises for improving motion and strength, splinting to enhance motion or protect joints, adaptive techniques for daily living and work stimulation.

Custom Splinting
Hand therapy patients are often referred for custom splint with the goals of protecting, positioning or mobilizing fingers, wrists or elbows. The proper fabrication and application of splints is considered an essential part in the management of diseases or injuries of the hand and arm. Benefits of custom splints include the following:
- Individual fit for each patient
- Splints are made the same day as referral
- Adjustments are easily made as progress designates
- Accommodations can be made at the physician’s request
- Splints are easily removed for exercise sessions
