V-Blox Benefits

Top 10 Benefits of the V-Blox Power Quality System

  1. Promotes greater operating efficiency of air conditioners, refrigeration, appliances and wiring by preventing voltage stress
  2. Extends the life of electrical appliances and electronic equipment
  3. Improves performance and reduces equipment malfunction and downtime
  4. Reduces maintenance calls and resulting replacement costs
  5. Extends the life of fluorescent lamps and ballasts, greatly reducing the frequency of ballast and light bulb replacement
  6. Protects computers and point-of-sale systems against hard-drive crashes and lost data
  7. Protects your entire electrical system from lightning and power surges, which can originate from external and/or internal sources
  8. May reduce insurance costs by reducing the risk of lost data and equipment
  9. Promotes greater overall reliability and operating efficiency of total system
  10. Provides both "catastrophic" and "preventative" protection of all electronics, computer and telecom systems and your most sensitive equipment

How Tough Are V-Blox Surge Protectors? You Decide.

power quality systems, electrical appliances

We tested the V-Blox units on a "Thermo-Keytek" surge generation machine (which is the same machine UL uses to test for UL 1449 second edition) and recorded using a "Hioki" power quality meter to record let through voltage. The Thermo-Keytek has the capability of generating a surge every 12 seconds. It takes that long for the capacitors to charge.

With the V-Blox unit protecting the circuit, we generated a "6600 volt surge at 3000 amps every 12 seconds for 2 days (48 hours). The total amount of surges generated was 14,400. The let through voltage at the end of testing was the same as the beginning (within 1% of each other)."

This is the equivalent of "14,400" consecutive "Category 1" lightning strikes.

The testing was done on the V-Blox units with no potting compound so we could monitor the temperatures of our components. No component in the device ever got above 53 degrees Celsius (they begin to degrade around 65 to 70 degrees Celsius). The potting compound V-Blox uses to surround the components is used as a heat sink to keep the components cool. We have done this testing with the compound in place but at that point we can only measure let through voltage and are unable to measure component temperature.
